  is a malignant disease of the bone marrow that causes an increase in white blood cell production.

The term tumor as related to neoplasm means

new growth.

Neoplasms that are confined to a local area and do not spread are called:

benign.

Metastasis

  is the spread of the neoplasm to distant sites.
