3 Movies In 3 Days

Alright everyone, I have 3 more movies to watch, in 3 days!

This Pandemic is still going on and many of us may still be finding ourselves with a lot of free time on our hands. These 3 movies can keep you entertained, and are fairly long so it will definitely help pass the time. These movies I’m talking about are: The Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons and Inferno. I found this trilogy to be quite captivating. The movies are inspired by the book series by Dan Brown. Tom Hanks portrays the main character in all of these movies, which is nice because the same actor is kept playing the role. Ben Foster, Ewan McGregor and Paul Bettany also play roles in these movies. I watched part of The Da Vinci Code when I was younger, but didn’t quite understand it. Then again, I maybe got 20 minutes into it and switched it off. It wasn’t exactly the type of movie I was interested around that age. Now that I’m older and have a different outlook on movies, appreciation of history and good musical composition. I decided that I might actually enjoy it. So we, my boyfriend and I decided to watch these on our movie night.

The Da Vinci Code

This film was produced back in 2006 with Tom Hanks cast as the main character. It dives straight into secret societies and their hidden past dating back to the birth of Christianity. The main character Robert Langdon is basically thrown into all these whirlwind events. The movie is a race with Langdon to uncover the truth about what happened and why. Over a span of about 2 hours and 30 minutes, its on the longer end, but well worth it. The musical composition is also amazing and makes you feel more in the movie. If you want to hear some of the musical pieces on Spotify, click below:

Angels and Demons

This second Fim , we find ourselves right back at it with Robert Langdon. This time he’s called upon because the Illuminati have surfaced and there are puzzles only he can figure out. Langdon eventually finds himself searching through Vatican City to find the clues to stop the massive destruction of the city.

Inferno

This is the last movie of the trilogy. Inferno starts off again with Robert Langdon suffering from retrograde amnesia, he’s told from trauma to the head. He is needed to decrypt hidden messages and stop a deadly virus from being unleashed on the world. Watching the first two movies comes, it to no surprise as to why they want Langdon in the first place. More secrets, more puzzles to solve all while running from multipe government agencies. Who can he trust? This movie also has a wonderful composition. Just listen for yourself down below.

I would have never come across these unless Chris suggested the, because he wanted to watch them. These movies had long been out of the spotlight and overshadowed by the more recent comic book films. We decided to just watch one movie each night, so we could unwind and look forward to something to do the next day. I thoroughly enjoyed these movies and the music that emphasized them . They were extremely entertaining and fun to watch. Grab some snacks, kick back and get comfy. I hope you enjoy the movies as much as I did. 💚

Self Care Sunday

Being safe by staying indoors all day can be taxing. Whether you are essential personnel or not, we all play a crucial part in keeping everyone safe. With that being said, don’t let yourself fall off. Don’t forget about taking care of your mind, body and soul. Doing and seeing the same thing everyday, can start having the groundhog effect. It happened to me before on deployment and I felt it happening now at school. Today I mustered up the energy to treat myself to a “self care Sunday.” I needed that little routine to bring me out of my funk. So let me share with you what I’m doing today.

Routine for the Day

First and foremost I made myself a coffee. I can not crawl out of bed without making myself some coffee or tea. I just used the Donut Shop K-Cups with a little cream and sugar. The stronger the better. After my coffee, I got a start on my meal prepping for the week. While that was conveniently cooking in the Instapot, I decided to do a hair mask in the shower. Basically a hair mask is a deep conditioning for your hair. You can do all kinds of hair masks, it just depends on what result you want. I decided on trying out Marc Anthony Strictly Curls. I never really do these things so I thought it would be fun to do. I left it in for 10 minutes after shampooing my hair and my hair came out so soft! The curls seemed to be brought back to life and it wasn’t as frizzy. Since being here in school I may have just let my hair care go a little. I wear it up in a bun all day, every day, so it definitely needed this treatment. After that, I decided that I need to get back into my Yoga. So I am starting a new 30 day at home Yoga routine called, “Yoga with Adriene.” I have been doing her videos for over a year now and I love them. They help you find your balance and bring back a calmness over your mind and body. Today I did “Day-1 Recognize.” After the exercise I felt like all the stress was released. I definitely feel like my soul was realigned and calmed. Finding that inner peace is so important in general, but especially in a time when there is so much stress around. Next it was time to eat. I have a bad habit of not eating enough and its something I’m working on. So today I decided on something quick, easy and healthy. It’s smoothie time! To me there’s nothing better than making a fresh berry smoothie the way you like it. So while I drink my smoothie it’s time to write. I love to write, I love sharing my day and my ideas with you. It brings out my creativeness and I genuinely enjoy it. After writing, the rest of the day I will spend playing video games, maybe do some laundry, eat dinner and just relax. Being able to give yourself a day off from everything is so important. It allows yourself to rest and recharge for the upcoming weeks. Try not to fall into the monotonous rhythm, it impacts you more than you may think. Stay safe and stay healthy! Try something new everyday, maybe start a new routine. Down below I listed the Yoga routine, some music I’m listening to today and some video games I will be playing. Have fun my lovelies!

How to Combat Stress

Stress comes in many ways, shapes and forms. No one is the same, and that includes how we deal and how we handle stress. You may question if stress is a daily part of your life. Stress can appear in a multitude of ways. A handful of things to look out for are:

  • Rapid weight gain/ weight loss
  • Exhaustion/lethargy
  • Excessive eating/ not eating at all
  • Working out but with no satisfaction after
  • Anxiousness/ irritability
  • Find more signs here.

Sometimes you may ask yourself how can I start dealing with this? How do I figure out how to combat this? Our beautiful souls are all different. This is why we are unique as people, and different things help each one of us. Always though, if life feels like its getting too much for you to handle on your own. You should seek professional help and advice. Having someone you don’t personally know to talk to can sometimes help more than you think.

For myself stress is constantly in my life. However, I can usually thrive off of “chaotic stress.” Working in the EMS field can be hectic everyday but having a passion for it can help fuel your efforts for it. I use this fuel to the best of my ability and push myself more so I can get the best outcome in a situation. I am also currently in school to become a Navy Hospital Corpsman which is another level of a chaotic environment. From working on ships, to hospitals and being in combat zones, the stress will never stop. For some reason though I thrive working in chaos. Doing something to push myself every day. I know it sounds crazy, but I love it and honestly wouldn’t change it.

Update: My Stress in School

Navy Corpsman school like all schools is …wait for it…stressful! I knew, who knew? Sometimes I think it has been more stressful than a deployment or working in the EMS field. Being thrown into this new boot (newbie) environment was a shock to my system, all the way down to my core. Being a fleet returnee (someone who has prior service in the military), I had to follow the same rules as everyone fresh from boot camp. Thank goodness I wasn’t alone in this process though. There are other fleet returnees here too. We became each others sounding boards to help us make it through school. Being 26 years old and treated like an 18 year old is so hard to wrap your head, but we had to do it to a point. We also were put in charge of our class and have to make sure they don’t get in trouble and show up to everywhere they are supposed to be. Talk about being stressed. There have definitely been moments when I wanted to have a meltdown and just leave and go back home, but I didn’t. I didn’t allow this type of stress to get to me and here were some of the things I did to cope:

  • Worked out at the gym with my roomie. Did yoga and meditated.
  • Wrote in my journal about my emotions and what made me upset. Happy or sad, I basically recorded my day.
  • I read some books that I brought from home while sipping Yogi Stress Relief Tea.
  • Listened to music that would calm me down and allowed me to find my zen again.
  • Talked and talked AND talked to my family and friends that understood what was going on.
  • Shopping therapy! I have no shame, sometimes it helps when you can wear something you feel good in. Like comfy pajamas.
  • Friday movie nights, with popcorn and snacks included.

I know this seems like a random list of things, but for me it isn’t. Its what helped me when I started bottling up the stress. I’m still learning and trying out different things to help de-stress and get back to feeling light and airy. It may take trying different techniques, and different things to see what really helps and speaks to you. Don’t allow stress to win and take hold of your life. You can get through anything if you try. We are all stronger than we think.

Shout out to my family and friends who deal with me when I am a crazy stress ball. Love you ❤

How Do You Study?

Everyone studies differently and that is totally ok. No two people are completely alike when it comes to learning, comprehending and retaining knowledge. Take myself for example, it turns out I am a kinesthetic and aural learner. Basically I learn best hands on and when listening and reading the material. If you are curious on what type you are, just click HERE. How do I usually study you might ask? Well here are two things that I do.

Music Can Actually Help

Certain types of people love to learn with music. Music enables them to focus their energy onto whatever they are studying and link music and study material together. In the article “The Benefits of Studying with Music,” it talks about how it can reduce anxiety and make you feel more relaxed while studying. I would have to agree because, I love to study with music. I listen to classical music, or anything instrumental, just with no words. If there were words I would much rather just sing along! One of my favorite playlists I listen to while studying is on Spotify. Click HERE to listen! It’s piano music and there is over an hour worth of different songs. Some other playlists I love to listen to are:

Above are my go to playlists when I am studying for something. I also listen to them when I’m blogging, like right now. I’m listening to my Disney Piano Collection (: Music also isn’t the only way to study other than just reading your notes or doing flash cards over and over again.

The Gym Helps You Study Too?

I know, sounds crazy huh? I thought so too, until I tried it and it actually stuck. While working out you can bring those flash-cards and quiz yourself. For instance, while doing your cardio on the stationary bike, instead of biking and looking at your phone, look at your flashcards instead. Since you’re releasing dopamine and adrenaline, you’re engraining all that study material into you head and you’re happy doing it. There are many different ways you can study, it just depends on what you gravitate towards most. Try out a few different ways and see which ones you like and which ones you don’t necessarily like doing. It is all about finding what works best for you, what makes you WANT to study and what helps you comprehend the study material. Everybody’s brain is different, which is why there is a multitude of different types of studying. Go learn, soak up all the knowledge and apply it where you need too!

“The process may seem strange and yet it is very true. I did not so much gain the knowledge of things by the words, as words by the experience I had of things.”

December 9th 2019

Sixteen more days until Christmas! Hang your stockings, put up your tree, watch Christmas movies and listen to Holiday songs. One of my favorite song since I was a kid and will always be “The Little Drummer Boy” done by The Vienna Boys Choir. There also is the classic stop motion film The Little Drummer Boy. Enjoy the festivities, put on some music and spread the Holiday cheer!
