Happy National Ice Cream Day!
Today we get to celebrate all this dairy goodness! Celebrate by having ice cream any way you would like. Banana splits, ice cream shakes or just a scoop in a cone. My favorite flavor would have to be mint chip from baskin robbins. Whats your favorite flavor?

My Top 5 Movies on Quarantine
Finally Catching Up on That Movie List
So I have this GIANT list of movies that I have been procrastinating on watching. I always said I was too busy, there was no time or I would eventually get around to it. I think I originally started this list back in 2016 on my deployment year. I was off and on about adding movies and shows from 2016 to now. Since I was in Corpsman school this past January all the way up until April, I had some down time to watch movies and catch up on things. This definitely helped when my brain turned into mush from studying. I think I was able to watch about fifteen movies or so. Well, at least the ones I can remember. I would watch a movie about once a week to kind of chill out and relax. When March hit, so did COVID-19, and oh boy did I watch more Netflix and Hulu than I ever have before.
Watching movies isn’t just a good way to pass time, it’s also relaxing and fun. Watching movies and creating your bucket list of things you want to watch helps pass time during the pandemic. Instead of going to the movies, bring the movies to you, while staying home and staying safe. Before the pandemic, I used to love going to the movies. Minus spending what felt like a million dollars every time, it was fun. There’s that movie theater vibe, the smell of stale popcorn and butter flavored oil in the air. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 it may be a while before I visit the movie theaters again. That’s okay though, I can bring the movies to me. On the plus side I wont have to spend a million dollars to watch the newest movie. Down below are the movies I watched, with a tiny review. On a side note, no matter how good my reviews are, I’m not a professional.
Zodiac
Dun dun dun! I have wanted to watch this movie because it took place in California. Since I live here, I wanted to watch and learn about him and what he did. This film came out in 2007 starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Mark Ruffalo as the main characters. It’s a long movie but don’t be daunted by it! It is worth the watch and it will draw you into the movie until the very end. I would personally give it ๐๐๐๐๐ 5/5 stars!
Togo
Oh boy, kudos to Disney again. This movie had me in tears, don’t worry though they were happy, not sad tears. Togo is about the dog who made the famous Serum Run in Alaska in 1925. William Dafoe plays the main character and does a hell of a job! This movie is intense, heartwarming and a tearjerker. This movie ๐๐๐๐๐ 5/5 I would watch it again.
Doctor Sleep
Doctor Sleep is the years that happened after The Shining. It follows Dan Torrance as an adult and the events he encountered. He must protect someone just like him. This had me in my seat, shielding my eyes at some points because I decided to watch it in the dark of night. Loved the suspense, and the small flashbacks to The Shining. ๐๐๐ 3/5 stars for this scary movie.
Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn
Isn’t that some type of movie title? As crazy as this movie title goes is as crazy as this movie goes. After what we know about Harley Quinn, Margot Robbie does an outstanding job with all that Harley energy. From crazy outfits, to wild fights, this movie will keep you interested and waiting to see what it brings next. P.S this movie is MUCH better than Suicide Squad. Harley Quinn, you get ๐๐๐๐ 4/5 enjoy that single life!
Zombieland: Doubletap
Zombieland Rule #2 โ Double Tap You think it’s dead (technically it was before you shot it), one more makes 100% sure. Zombieland: Doubletap is as ridiculous and funny as the first Zombieland. The cast for this movie work so well together and give you all the laughs you can need. Never under estimate zombies, Elvis lovers and Hippies. I’ll make sure to follow up on the rules if a Zombie apocalypse ever happens. Thanks for the rules. This movie gets a ๐ง๐ง๐ง๐ง 4/5 zombie score from me.
The Hunt
Don’t be deceived by the title into thinking this movie is horror. I thought it was but my laughs said otherwise. Who will win in this Hunt? And by win I mean…live. In a previous post that I wrote about it, goes into more detail here. If you like comedy, you’ll enjoy this movie. ๐๐๐๐ 4/5 stars.
Let’s get to watching!
These were my top choices of the movies I’ve watched so far. Every so often, more shows and movies come up that I just add them to my journal. What makes the movies at home more fun, is the perks. Popcorn, comfy pillows a nice drink, or my personal favorite, a pint of ice cream! I suggest Ben and Jerry’s. Make it like a movie theater, but better. You can have the ambiance of going to the movies, but in the comfort of your own home. It’s always fun to watch movies with your friends, your loved ones, or make a social distance movie night! There are many ways to spice it up and enjoy a night in at the movies. Some items that may make it more fun and delicious are listed below:
- Popcorn Maker. This will make it smell just like the movies! (Affiliate)
- Healthy Popcorn. If you lean towards the healthy side.
- Make “Better than Movie Theater Popcorn.”
- Movie Nights! Make the movies in your own living room.

Candy Apples Galore!
A Favorite Disney Treat!

Are those candy apples?!
What are those pictured above? Cute little ornaments maybe for a tree? Not quite. These tasty little treats are Disney’s caramel candy apples and they are to die for. These sweet treats shower Downtown Disney and Disneyland with their sugar crystals and sweet designs. Onlookers will water at the mouth as they inquire, “where did you get that?” Before visiting Disney let me tell you where you can find these adorable tasty apples and treats.

Oh my gosh they have even more?!
In fact, there are two places you can find these treats. First stop, Downtown Disney in Anaheim, California. Downtown Disney is not inside either of the parks: Disneyland or California Adventure. What this means is that it is open to the public, you don’t need a ticket to visit. In Downtown Disney there is a magical sweets shop called Marcelines Confectionery. You can watch in enjoyment as handcrafted caramel apples magically turn into an assortment of Disney characters and other delectable treats are made. There is something to try for anyone that has a sweet tooth.
This is just a sneak peak of Marcelines, there is much more to gaze in excitement in the store. These sweet treats are almost to pretty to eat you may think! Don’t be afraid to take a bite out of them, they are even more delicious than you can imagine.
Don’t fear, already in the park and see someone walking around with a giant candy apple or a brick of fudge? Second stop, Disneyland itself in Anaheim California. This second stop is not free like Marcelines Confectionery in Downtown Disney. Visiting the Candy Palace and Candy Kitchen requires an entry ticket to Disneyland theme park. That’s the only catch. In hindsight you would be able to walk around the park munching on a sweet treat and enjoy a day at Disney though. Sounds like a win to me.

The caramel apple and candy themes are constantly changing! They might be snowmen for winter, or maybe a poison apple for Halloween or perhaps Dory and Marlin from Finding Nemo. You won’t know which one will be there until you visit yourself. So while you’re wondering where to get your craving of sweets don’t forget to stop at Marcelines Confectionery in Downtown Disney or the Candy Palace and Candy Kitchen inside Disneyland. You and your sweet tooth will not be disappointed! Have fun trying out all the different types of apples and sweet treats!
